Man City's Manager Pep Guardiola Reacts To The Devastating Late Manchester Derby Collapse At The Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reacts furiously to the careless mistakes made by his team as they lost to Man United 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Man City threw away the Manchester derby with a pair of big defensive errors late versus Man United, conceding twice in two minutes.

The hosts had led through a Josko Gvardiol goal in the first half but the attack wasn’t very good, and the defense made it worse late with a pair of awful defensive lapses that let to the Red Devil's bagging all three points.

City were actually leading until the 88th minute, but ended up losing 2-1 – Amad Diallo struck a 90th-minute winner for the visitors just moments after Bruno Fernandes had levelled from the penalty spot.

The game-changing penalty was conceded by left-back Matheus Nunes after his poor back-pass put Ederson in trouble.

It was the first time City had lost a game they were leading so late on.

They have only lost four of 105 Premier League home games under Guardiola in which they have been ahead at half-time, winning 94 and drawing seven.

The Cityzens have now managed just one win and eighth defeat in their last 11 matches across all competitions, continuing the club's worst run of form since 2006.

They sit nine points behind leaders Liverpool in the Premier League having played a game more, with their quest for a record fifth successive Premier League title now in jeopardy. 

Pep Guardiola took responsibility as he reflected on his team's recent performance: "I'm the manager and I'm not good enough, simple as that, I have to find solutions but I don't find solutions," he said in his press conference.

"I knew it would be a tough season but I didn't expect so hard.

"I'm here, and I'm responsible. It would be easy for me to say we lost because of this action or this player or this situation but football is a team games.

“This year many times, it’s happened. We give away many things, against Feyenoord. We are not nice in the way we play. It was so fluid before and now we struggle for different reasons. We put everything in the game and it was almost closed except for one chance from Bruno.”

“Nothing special. We gave away the two goals. ... It is what it is. What can I say? It’s a tough season. ... We didn’t play our best because some positions we are not our best.”

“There’s no defense. The result of games in previous season we didn’t lose eight games in two seasons now we lose eight in a few days. We cannot talk about targets when we lose a lot of games, and most of the time these things have happened. We have to move on and try to find the solution and try to win games.”

“We need results to lift our mood. When it happens getting worse and worse, the reality is like this. I’m the manager of these players and this club. I have to find a solution and so far I haven’t found it. This is the truth.”

Guardiola signed a new two-year contract in November, saying he did not feel he could leave the club at a difficult time, but the crisis has spiralled since then and he is now facing questions over how and when he can reverse their fortunes.

Guardiola will try again to get his Manchester City team back to winning ways on Saturday in the Premier League against Aston Villa at Villa Park.
