Club Legend Ruud van Nistelrooy LEAVES Man United After Rúben Amorim Arrival As Head-Coach.

Manchester United have confirmed the departure of Ruud van Nistelrooy from the club following the arrival of new head coach Ruben Amorim in the UK on Monday.

The former Netherlands international and club legend hade returned to the club in the summer to work under former manager Erik ten Hag, but the Dutchman was sacked ending of October after series of poor performance and results.

Van Nistelrooy was then instilled as an interim boss immediately after Ten Hag was sacked.

The ex-United striker had been impressive inside and out of the club over the last four games he has been in-charge, winning three and drawing one. The team scored 11 goals during his short tenure. (5-2 against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup, and 2-0 in the Premier League, a 1-1 draw against Chelsea and a 2-0 victory over PAOK in the Europa League). 

However, the United board under Sir Jim Ratcliffe INEOS immediately sought for a replacement of Ten Hag, and the appointment of Ruben Amorim earlier this month (November 1), has resulted in Van Nistelrooy along with three other coaches from Ten Hag's pre-existing backroom staff parting ways with the Old Trafford club. 

Despite Van Nistelrooy reportedly making it clear he had a contract to remain as assistant manager until June 2026 and wanted to see it through, but Amorim has his own long-established coaching team.

Van Nistelrooy who has a strong connection with the Man United fans, was a fan favourite as a player for the Red Devils during his playing days, scoring 150 goals in 219 appearances over a five-year period between 2001 and 2006 before moving to Real Madrid, Hamburg and then Malaga.

The Dutchman was previously head coach at Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, resigning ahead of the final day fixture of the 2022-23 season amid concerns that the team's hierarchy were not backing him enough.

The Red Devils released a statement on Monday, which reads: “Manchester United can confirm that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club. Ruud rejoined in the summer and has taken charge of the team for the past four matches as interim head coach.

“Ruud is, and always will be, a club legend.

“We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford.

“Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel have also departed and we wish them all well for the future.

"We will confirm the full men's first team coaching composition in due course.”

According to BBC though, former United midfielder Darren Fletcher will remain in his role and continue his link between the first team and the academy.

Amorim flew into Manchester from Portugal on Monday after his final game in charge of Sporting CP who defeated reigning Premier League champions Man City 4-1 in the UCL last Tuesday, then his team made a remarkable comeback from a 2 goal down to beat rivals Braga 4-2 on Sunday night.

He leaves Sporting as the most in-form team right now in Europe. They have won all eleven games, no draw and no defeat in the Liga Portugal this season. They are currently SIX points clear in the league table, and are second behind Liverpool in the Champions League standings.

Amorim is set to implement his 3-4-3 playing formation when his reign gets underway away to Ipswich Town on November 24. He would be the first United boss to regularly play with a three-man defence since Louis van Gaal in 2014.

With most players on international duty or on holiday during the international break, he will have to wait to meet the majority of his squad.
