Man United’s Noussair Mazraoui To Miss Out Of Action For Several Weeks After Undergoing Minor Heart Procedure

Manchester United's full-back Noussair Mazraoui will be out for weeks: he has been diagnosed with an arrhythmic heart condition, and has undergone minor heart procedure.

Mazraoui complained he experienced heart palpitations, though United sources stressed the full-back's condition is not an emergency. 

Widespread reports on Thursday then said the Moroccan international has undergone successful surgery to correct his problem, as he is expected to make full recovery.

Notably, Mazraoui was substituted at half-time during Man United’s Premier League 0-0 draw against Aston Villa at the Villa Park last Sunday, with Harry Maguire also replaced at the interval.

Following that, Mazaraoui was pulled out of the Morocco squad on Monday for the next round of Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against the Central African Republic.

The 26-year-old has already had a heart problem in the past, just when he played at Bayern Munich.

In January of 2023, Mazaraoui had to take some time away from football to deal with heart tissue inflammation after suffering from Covid-19 during his Bayern days, which led to him resuming training just one month later, but his return to competitive action was delayed until March.

He recently joined United from the German club in a deal worth an initial £12.8million (€15m) plus add-ons in August and has quickly established himself as the Red Devils' first-choice right-back.

 

Mazaraoui has started all seven of United's Premier League games this season, with Erik ten Hag's men taking just eight points to record their worst-ever start to a campaign in the competition.

Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are long-term absentees, meanwhile, leaving Ten Hag's men short in defence ahead of their return to action against Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday October 19.
