Erling Haaland, Fabian Hurzeler, Cole Palmer and David Raya WINS The First Premier League AWARDS For The 2024/25 Season.

Erling Haaland, Fabian Hurzeler, Cole Palmer and David Raya wins the first Premier League awards for the 2024/25 season.

Haaland was voted the Premier League Player of the Month for August after an historic start to the season with Manchester City. 

The Norwegian won the award after scoring seven goals in three appearances this season, the most a player has ever netted in a team’s first three Premier League fixtures of a campaign.

He has played a key role in Pep Guardiola's City team that have made an ominous, 100% perfect start to their 2024/25 season (three wins from three games).

 

The striker scored in the opening-day win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, before grabbing a successive hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham United.

Haaland became the first player to score a hat-trick in two of a team’s first three league matches in a season since Paul Jewell did so for Bradford City in League Two in 1994/95.

Speaking to Man City's official website, Haaland expressed his delight winning the award.

“I am delighted to have won this award so early in the season. I am also very grateful to my team-mates, the coaches and staff for helping to make it happen. August was a brilliant month for the team, and I am proud to have played an important part in that. To have scored seven goals last month in three matches is great, but I will continue to work hard and improve my game”... He said.

The 24-year-oldclaimed the prize for the third time, having also won it in August 2022 and April 2023. 

He emerged winner ahead of an eight-man shortlist which included Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), Amadou Onana (Aston Villa), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), David Raya (Arsenal), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Danny Welbeck (Brighton) after the public’s votes on the Ea Sports website were combined with those of a panel of football experts.

“To have scored seven goals last month in three matches is great, but I will continue to work hard and improve my game. We have given ourselves a great foundation to build on now going into a busy period with the Champions League and Carabao Cup starting. I hope I can continue to help the team get the wins and keep us pushing in all the competitions.” he added. 

While on international duty with his country Norway in the recent UEFA Nations League, Haaland added another strike to his already bulging season tally against Austria.

He will now look forward to adding to his seven goals for the season when Man City return to Premier League action at home against Brentford on Saturday.

City will also host Inter Milan in their opening UEFA Champions League match of the season, a mouthwatering repeat of the 2023 final, which City memorably won in Istanbul.

The Citizens then play Arsenal at the Etihad on September 22 in a match between the top two last season, and that could make a difference this season title race.

On the other hand, Fabian Hürzeler was awarded August Manager of the Month after a sensational start with Brighton and Hove Albion.

He also breaks the record for the youngest Manager of the Month Award at just 31 years old.

At 31, Hurzeler is the youngest permanent manager in Premier League history, but that has not stopped his impressive performance at Brighton so far, as the club continues its ability to unearth some of the brightest managerial minds in the game, following De Zerbi and Graham Potter.

The German was appointed Brighton manager in the summer to replace Roberto De Zerbi, and he has not disappointed in the English top flight.

The Seagulls began their season unbeaten, and are third on the table after three matches (two wins and a draw).

They cruised to an comprehensive 3-0 away win at Everton, followed by a late 2-1 home win over Man United, and then a 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates, in a game that saw Declan Rice sent off early in the second half.

Fabian Hürzeler (August 2024) is only the second Brighton coach to win the Premier League manager of the month award, after Chris Hughton (February 2018).

Next up for Brighton is a home game with Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Chelsea star Cole Palmer wins the Premier League Goal of the Month award in August.

The attacking midfielder got the prize for his excellent lob over the Wolves goalkeeper in the Blues' 6-2 win at the Molineux Stadium.

Palmer scored with a looping first-time effort from outside the box, catching Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa off his goalline. It meant Chelsea went from a goal-kick to a goal in less than 10 seconds, after their 'keeper Robert Sanchez's long pass was flicked by Nicolas Jackson to Palmer to score.

The goal topped a shortlist of eight of the best in August after votes from the public were combined with those of a panel of experts.

So far, it is Palmer's only goal this season, although he has also registered four assists in three games.

This is the second time Palmer has won the award. He also claimed it in April 2024 for his goal from the edge of the box against Everton. 

The 22-year-old will have a chance to focus on the domestic competitions in the first half of the season as he was left out of the Conference League squad.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya wins the Premier League Save of the Month for August!

The Gunners shot-stopper and his lightning-quick reflex reactions denied Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins at point-blank range and secured a clean sheet.

The Spanish international’s incredible moment came in the 54th minute with the scores tied at 0-0. A deflected shot sent him scrambling towards his goalline, and after cannoning off the crossbar the ball fell kindly to Watkins to simply head home.

However from a seemingly-stranded position on his goalline, Raya lept up to tip away the England striker’s header as Mikel Arteta's men secured a 2-0 victory.

It is the third time an Arsenal goalkeeper has won the award since it was introduced at the start of the 2022/23 season, following on from Aaron Ramsdale’s back-to-back successes in March and April 2023 - no club has won it more often the North London club side.
