OFFICIAL: Dani Olmo's First Words As He Returns To Barcelona From RB Leipzig.

Barcelona have completed the signing of Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo from Germany's RB Leipzig.

The 26-year-old moved to Barcelona for £51million and played for Spain's youth team before moving to Croatia's Dino Zagreb in 2014.

Olmo signed a six-year deal with Barcelona.

"Every time he plays, he seems to be among his teammates. He is motivated when he is playing among his teammates," as Barcelona's announcement outlined.

"He has the ability to score as he showed himself in Euro 2024, and he can score from inside or outside the 18th."

Olmo won two German Cups with RB Leipzig in 2020.

He is among the top scorers in Euro 2024 where he scored three goals and helped Spain win the tournament for the fourth time in a row.

Having signed his new contract alongside club president Joan Laporta until the summer of 2030, Dani Olmo shared his first words as a Barça player with the club’s media.

“I’m very happy, it’s a dream come true, I’m returning home with my family and with my teammates.... Olmo gleefully exclaimed.

“I’m looking forward to getting started, I’m very proud that Barça has made this effort, that they want me,”

Olmo expressed his excitement about reuniting with several Barcelona teammates he has previously played alongside. He also mentioned his eagerness to play with Robert Lewandowski in particular.

“Versatility, quality, first touch, I’ve already played with many Barça players. There’s a lot of quality here, I’m looking forward to playing with players like Lewandowski and I’m ready to contribute,” Olmo remarked.

“The objective is to win, we are Barça and we have to compete for everything, we have a team, we have players, we have staff and we are going to go for everything,” he concluded.

Olmo further wrote on his X page following the completion of the transfer;

"The club is young. And we will grow together and win goals with my cup and make history together,"

"Thank you RB Leipzig, you will forever despise me."

There will be an added attraction at the 59th edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy with the occasion doubling as the official presentation of brand new signing Dani Olmo.

It will be a very special welcome back home for the signing from RB Leipzig who spent in his youth years at La Masia.

Olmo would first appear in blaugrana on Monday, August 12 for the game against AS Monaco at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys as Barça perform for the first time of the season in front of their home fans.

This will be the last friendly fixture for the team before the official fixture licks in a week later with the Liga trip to Valencia.
