Favour Ofili Makes Nigeria Proud, As She Reaches The Women's 200M Paris 2024 Olympic Final.

 🇳🇬 Favour Ofili has become the FIRST Nigerian to QUALIFY for the Olympic 200m final in 28 years (since 1996), since Mary Onyali.

Ofili executed a good race to secure the 2nd automatic qualifying spot with a season-best time of 22.05 seconds in the semis, just behind Julien Alfred who won the race, crossing the line in a time of 21.98s, while USA’s McKenzie Long finished third in 22.30s.

Ofili’s 22.05s finish is an improvement on the 22.24s she ran in the first round on Sunday.

It was a big comeback for Favour Ofili after missing out on the 100m due to not being registered by her NOC.

Mary Onyali was the last Nigerian in the final of the women's 200m in Atlanta 1996 games in the USA.

She won Bronze medal, and Ofili was born six years later, in 2002.

Ofili will be aiming to better her compatriot’s bronze-winning run. The final is billed for Wednesday by 8:40 pm.
