Chelsea Reaches An Agreement With Wolves To Sign Winger Pedro Neto For €60m.

Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Pedro Neto on €63 million (£51.4m; $65.5m) deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Chelsea finally struck a deal with Wolves and will pay an initial 60m euros fixed fee plus additional 3m euros in add-ons after having two bids rejected.

The Blues' player-plus-cash deal earlier this week was rejected then a straight cash offer was also turned down on Thursday evening.

This transfer that will take Chelsea's summer spending past £200m.

Neto’s contract with Wolves runs until the summer of 2027 after he signed a new five-year deal in March 2022.

He already agreed on personal terms as his agent Jorge Mendes got deal done with Chelsea today.

Wolves want Carlos Forbes from Ajax to replace Pedro Neto who’s understood to be travelling to London today for medical tests which has already been booked. 

The 24-year-old made 20 Premier League appearances for Wolves last season, scoring three goals and registering 11 assists in an injury-hit campaign which saw him miss three months of the season with two different hamstring blows.

He returned to fitness at the end of the season and was part of the Portugal squad that competed at the European Championship, appearing in all three of their group-stage fixtures but remaining an unused substitute in their last-16 and quarter-final matches.

The Portuguese winger has been capped 10 times by his country.

Neto joined Wolves from Lazio in 2019 and has played 135 times, scoring 14 goals for the Molineux club. Due to injuries, though, he has not played more than 25 games in a season since the 2020-21 campaign.

He has been linked with a move away from Molineux for the past 12 months, attracting interest from, Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and Man United.

Chelsea have already signed eight players this summer so far; Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham, Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa, Marc Guiu from Barcelona, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City, Renato Veiga from Basel, Caleb Wiley from Atlanta United and Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors.

They have also agreed a deal to sign striker Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid for €40m (£34.5m) which is set to bolster Enzo Maresca’s attacking options alongside Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling with a new winger in Neto as wide options ahead of the new season.

The Blues have also held an interest in Celtic midfielder Matt O'Riley as a potential replacement for Conor Gallagher. 

Penders, Omorodion and Neto's arrivals would take Chelsea's senior squad - as it is listed on the club's website - to as many as 50 players.

Clubs must submit a squad list with a maximum of 25 players after the closure of each transfer window but can use as many players under the age of 21 as they wish.
