Transfer: Man City Joins Race For Eberechi Eze As A Potential Kevin De Bruyne's Replacement.

Manchester City has joined the race for Eberechi Eze's signature, as the Premier League champions are considering a move for the Crystal Palace playmaker to be a perfect replacement of Kevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne's future at the Etihad stadium, has been quite uncertain the past few weeks after Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad made a lucrative offer to the Belgian midfielder to quit Man City after nine years.

According to reports, the 33-year-old, is expected to agree a deal with Al-Ittihad. The Pro League club have recently appointed Frenchman Laurent Blanc as their new boss and boast a number of big names already, including Fabinho and Karim Benzema.

Though, Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has played down reports that De Bruyne has already agreed the switch to Saudi but Man City are seemingly planning for his potential departure.

City would look to get a reasonable fee for De Bruyne who is entering the final 12-months (year) of his contract with the club and despite the midfield maestro not being at his peak anymore, he remains an incredibly valuable player for Pep Guardiola's team.

He has made 382 appearances, 102 goals, 170 assists and 15 trophies for City.

Unless the Cityzens plan is for De Bruyne to sign a brand-new contract, the Sky Blues would be forced to consider his exit sooner than later or stand losing him for free next summer.

They are now considering making a move for Eberechi Eze, as the club are believed to be “weighing up their options.” It has been revealed that City appreciate the 26-year-old’s versatility and his “low-maintenance” attitude.

The Crystal Palace attacker is valued at £68 million, and has three years left on his contract with a release clause of £60m plus add-ons.

The south London club will not allow him to leave for any less. Especially after losing another of their rising stars, Michael Olise, to Bayern Munich.

Also considering Marc Guehi who has also emerged as a target for Liverpool, and the Reds are ‘super confident’ of signing the 24-year-old centre-back.

Adam Wharton is also generating interest across Europe but Palace are determined to stand firm and keep the defensive midfielder, as he only joined from Blackburn Rovers in January.

Eze who is considered one of the best playmakers right now in the Premier League, was outstanding for Palace last season, despite having his campaign interrupted by injury.

He scored 11 goals and provided six assists to lift Oliver Glasner’s side into a tenth-place finish in the League.

His impressive performance captured the interest of several top clubs, as he was also deservedly given a spot in England’s Euro 2024 squad by former coach Gareth Southgate.

Man City would have to battle it out with Tottenham Hotspur who have been seriously considering triggering Eze's release clause, while Arsenal have also shown an interest in the Englishman.
