OFFICIAL: Real Madrid FINALLY Sign Their Man Kylian Mbappe On A FREE Transfer From PSG.

• Real Madrid have on Monday officially announced the signing of long awaited target Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer.

• The French superstar joins Los Blancos just two days after winning their 15th Champions League title to clinch the double, having also been crowned LaLiga champions for a 33rd time.

Mbappe, who was born in Paris in 1998, has been Real Madrid top target for seven years, and without a doubt, this should be the greatest challenge Florentino Perez has faced with signings since taking over the club in 2000.

The club made an attempt for Mbappe in 2017 while playing for Monaco, but he ultimately decided to join Paris Saint-Germain because he wasn't sure of getting maximum game time at Madrid then. A second attempt was made in 2021, but PSG turned down an offer of 200 million euros for their star man.

There were a lot of speculations about Mbappe joining Madrid the next season, but without holding talks, he surprisingly extended his contract by two years with PSG in 2022 after facing a lot of pressure from Paris, France and Qatar.

In order to complete the signing of the century, Perez and Mbappe implemented a faultless strategy last summer. While Mbappe persisted in his resolve not to extend his contract with PSG any further, he surprisingly sent a letter to the club last year stating he would not take up the option of a one-year extension.

He warned the French club that if they don't sell him in the summer of the 2022/23 season, he would depart the Parc des Princes for free at the end of the next season (2023/24) when his contract expires in June.

The letter led to a standoff with the club and Mbappe was omitted from the first-team squad before being reinstated.

Despite the disappointments, finally, Real Madrid got their man on their fourth try and on a free transfer, just around the time when many Madrid supporters had come to terms with the possibility that he might never wear the white jersey. 

The 25-year-old signs a five-year contract, keeping him at the Bernabeu until 2029 in a deal worth €15m (£12.8m) a year after tax and will receive a signing-on bonus of just over £85m from Real, who will pay the fee in instalments over the duration of his contract.

 Mbappe is PSG's record goalscorer with 256 goals in 308 appearances, just seven years after costing the Ligue1 giants £166m (€188m and $196m) from AS Monaco.

When the transfer was completed, Mbappe became the second-most expensive player of all time after his former PSG team-mate Neymar.

He won six Ligue 1 titles and four French Cups, often completing domestic doubles and trebles, but the UEFA Champions League has eluded him.

Already a World Cup winner and a finalist in another with France, Mbappe's next step is to succeed at the club level like winning the Champions League and the Ballon d'Or, and he believes Real Madrid is the perfect stage to achieve this. 

The forward will be unveiled before joining up with the France squad for the European Championship in Germany.

He will wear No. 9 shirt in his first season at Real Madrid, then will reportedly wear the No. 10 jersey after Luka Modric retires. 

Mbappe joins a star-studded side in Madrid with the likes of Ballon d’Or favourites Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham, led by Italian Carlo Ancelotti the most successful coach in Champions League history, with five titles.

Mbappé's first competitive match for Real Madrid is in the UEFA Super Cup against Europa League winners Atalanta on August 14 in Warsaw Poland where he can lift his first trophy for the club.
