Erik ten Hag Sends Message to Man United Owners After 2-1 WIN Over Man City In The FA Cup Final.

• Manchester United are crowned champions of the 2023/24 FA Cup following a shocking 2-1 victory over fierce rivals Man City at Wembley stadium on Saturday evening.

• First-half goals from teenagers Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo proved enough for them to lift the trophy for a 13th time.

The Red Devils put up their best performance of a mediocre season to upset Man City, and deprive them of the double having already won the Premier League title four times in a row last week.

Garnacho opened the scoring and put the Red Devils in front in the 30th minute before his fellow academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo doubled the lead on the 39th minute for Erik ten Hag’s side.

However in the second half, City woke up and Erling Haaland hit the crossbar, but they had to wait until the 87th minute for substitute Jeremy Doku to pull one back and halve the deficit for Pep Guardiola’s in the 87th minute which gave City a glimmer of hope, but that proved to be merely a consolation goal.

City failed to find the much needed equaliser, as the match eventually ended in a 2-1 in favour of United.

The Premier League champions City, bidding to become the first club to win the double in successive seasons, had been on a 35-match unbeaten run in all competitions in open play which was ended by United.

Man United also ended Rodri's 74 games unbeaten, and Erik ten Hag became the first manager to defeat Guardiola in a major domestic cup final.

The victory for Man United means that they have qualified for the Europa League despite finishing eight on the Premier League table, while Chelsea who finished sixth, will now PLAY Conference League and NO European Cup football for 7th place Newcastle next season.

With speculation swirling about the future of under pressure manager Erik Ten Hag following an abysmal season which manage to end on a high, the Dutchman claimed that if Man United sack him, he will go to another club and win trophies for them instead, because that is what he has done throughout his career.

“Two trophies in two years is not bad, three finals in two years is not bad,” Ten Hag told a post-match news conference.

“When I started here, I said I am here to win and also I want to build a team. We have to keep going. I’m not satisfied with it, we have to do better, and If they don’t want me, then I go somewhere else to win trophies because that is what I do.”

He insisted that Ineos have often told him they want to keep him in charge but professed ignorance of United’s interest in other managers and did not reveal when the club’s new co-owners last expressed their confidence in him.

“Every time is the same question,” he said. “Do I have to repeat myself 10, 15, 20 times? They don’t have to tell me every week.”

Ten Hag also claimed United are exactly where he wants them to be, despite finishing eighth in the Premier League and with a negative goal difference, and said he inherited a shambles.

“I am in a project and we are exactly where we want to be,” he added. 

“We are on our way to constructing a team for the future. I will go with ups and down. When I took over we were in a mess at United. There is still a lot of work to do but are exactly where we are, we have value in the squad, high potentials progressing very good, the team is progressing and we are winning trophies.”

Ten Hag said the FA Cup was a bucket-list achievement for him but called on United to give him more transfer windows and to sign more fit players after they have had a litany of injuries this season.

He added: “The FA Cup was absolutely one on my bucket list, it is such a huge trophy. That is always the best to end [a season] on a high so you have the whole summer to enjoy.

“The team is developing, the team is winning and the team plays to an identity but you need the players to be available and a strong squad especially when you play in England and Europe. 

"We need more players because the depth in the squad is by far not good enough. Also, still we need transfer windows to bring better players in and also players who are always available or often valuable because when the players are not robust enough, you cannot win trophies.”
