Former Man City's Academy Director "Jason Wilcox" JOINS Man United as Technical Director With Immediate Effect!!

Jason Wilcox has been named as the next technical director of Manchester United. The former director of the Manchester City academy, will take over the club after leaving Southampton and will begin working at Old Trafford immediately.

After just nine months with the Championship club, Southampton stated they had reluctantly decided to let the former England winger go, as United and them have now concluded their negotiations.

While serving as St. Mary's director of football, Wilcox collaborated with the future chief executive of United Omar Berrada at Man City, where he played a part in the breakout careers of Phil Foden, Rico Lewis, Cole Palmer, Brahim Diaz, Jadon Sancho, Lavia, and McAtee.

Darren Fletcher, who was previously technical director, will reportedly still remain at Old Trafford and play a role across the men's first team and the academy. United has yet to confirm the new job title of their former midfielder. 

The 53-year-old Wilcox, will be reporting to United's next sporting director, Dan Ashworth, who is expected to take over. The former FA technical director is currently on gardening leave because United and Newcastle have not agreed on a compensation package. 

if Ashworth can start in time, Wilcox and Berrada are set to oversee United's summer transfer window at the same time.

With Wilcox's appointment, Old Trafford has continued to undergo restructuring since Sir Jim Ratcliffe joined as a co-owner. Their first recruit was Berrada; Ashworth was sought after; and the football director, John Murtough, departed the team.

The statement from Southampton read, "Southampton Football Club can reveal that, after agreeing on a reasonable compensation price with the Premier League team, it has regretfully agreed to allow Director of Football Jason Wilcox to join Manchester United.

"The club wishes Jason well for the future even though it is understandably disappointed that his time with Southampton was limited to just nine months.

"The club will maintain tight collaboration with [manager] Russell Martin and his backroom staff to guarantee they receive all the necessary assistance going ahead."
