Jose Mourinho Is Keen On Man United Return As He Has An Unfinished Business With The Club.

Jose Mourinho has been linked with a shock return to Manchester United for a second stint, as he feels he has “unfinished business” at the Premier League club.

Just over five years after he was sacked by the Old Trafford club, The Portuguese manager has made it his mission to have another shot at guiding United back to their glory days if the opportunity were to arise in the future.

The 61-year-old, was United's third permanent manager following Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement when he was hired in 2016, replacing Louis van Gaal shortly after the club had won the FA Cup.

He spent almost two and a half years in charge of United before his sacking in December 2018. He guided the Red Devils to Europa League, Carabao Cup and Community Shield success.

According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho wants to work with United’s new co-owners Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, who took charge of football operations since purchasing a 25 percent stake in the club.

Mourinho is currently out of work after parting ways with Italian club side AS Roma earlier in January this year and is seemingly looking for a way back into football.

While Mourinho is eager to return to United, the club is not searching for a new manager at this point.

It seems unlikely to become reality, at least any time soon, as current boss Erik ten Hag is currently in the second season of a three year contract set to expire in 2025, and he is tasked with guiding them back up the table.

There is a feeling of optimism among fans that Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS contingent taking control of sporting operations will enable the Dutchman to succeed.

Also, many of the players Mourinho criticized following his time at United are still there, with the likes of Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay still hanging on at Old Trafford.

United are currently sitted ninth in the Premier League and have already crashed out of the Champions League group stage, and the Carabao Cup, meaning their only realistic hope of silverware this season is in the FA Cup in which they say the winner between Bristol City vs Nottingham Forest in the round of 16. 

Ten Hag's team are in action on Thursday when they visit Wolves.
