Alejandro Garnacho reacts to scoring a thunderous bicycle kick goal in Manchester United's 3-0 win away at Everton on Sunday afternoon.

The Argentine youngster, unleashed a spectacular overhead kick from around 14 yards out, beating Jordan Pickford into the top corner courtesy of a Diogo Dalot's cross down the right in the third minute to give Man United the lead against Everton at Goodison Park.

The Toffees never recovered from the goal, despite the home side being on top for spells, United were ruthless in finishing.

Garnacho proceeded to do the well known SIU celebration like his idol Cristiano Ronaldo. 

The incredible strike is already considered a Goal of the Season contender and Puskas worthy.

In the 2017–18 Champions League quarterfinal match between Real Madrid and Juventus, Ronaldo scored a goal similar to an equally spectacular bicycle kick, which stands as one of his all-time greatest goals.

Ever since the two played together against Sheriff Tiraspol in 2022, Garnacho has made no secret of his admiration for the Portuguese star.

 

The Garnacho's goal  invoked images of Wayne Rooney's iconic bicycle kick for the Red Devils against Manchester City in 2011.

 

Erik ten Hag’s United were pretty dreadful in the first half. Everton should have scored at least twice and maybe more times, with the excellent Kobbie Mainoo who made his first Premier League start for United, was forced to clear off his line to deny Dwight McNeil a certain equaliser.

Though the second half was different, as referee John Brooks awarded a penalty to United on the advice of his VAR colleagues just before the hour, after Ashley Young had felled Anthony Martial in the box.

Marcus Rashford, handed the ball by captain Bruno Fernandes, took the penalty beautifully in the 56th minute, his first goal in almost three months and later on Fernandes supplied Martial with the third goal of the day in the 75th minute.

It was United's biggest win of the season as they move above Newcastle by a point into sixth, while relegation-haunted Everton remain second bottom of the standings on four points.

Unhappy Toffees fans were protesting the club's 10-point penalty by an independent commission for breaching financial rules earlier in the week. Next up for Sean Dyche's men is a game at Nottingham Forest next Sunday.

Alejandro Garnacho, speaking to Sky Sports after scoring one of the best goals ever scored by a player in United colours after only 133 seconds: "I cannot believe it. To be honest I just listened to the crowd, turned around and thought 'oh my God'. One of the best I have scored - I am happy.

On it being goal of the season: "Probably! It is still November, but yes it's one of the goals of the season."

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag to Sky Sports on Garnacho's goal: "Probably goal of the season. Also the build-up, not just the finish, was very good. The finish is fantastic, magnificent moment.

He added: "After the start of the game we were too easy-going. I criticised the team at half-time. They thought they were already there. You can't do that. You have to do 100 minutes on the pitch. Second half we did very well.

"Our three offensive players scored. That's what we need. It will help us as a team."

On how much Rashford needed his goal: "A lot. At first I was wondering why it was not a penalty. So obvious. Happy we got the penalty. We have some very good penalty takers. There you see also how great captain Bruno is. He assessed his team-mate needed that goal. He has the confidence in Rashy, who is a good penalty taker. As a team you need that leadership that you back each other. It will help him and give him extra strength.

"Excellent team goal and an excellent finish from Martial. We have front players, a lot has to do with confidence and belief."

On Mainoo: "We know we're in a transition. We have to develop players. Kids have to deserve it. It was painful for us when he got a bad injury in pre-season but now he's back. He's a good boy, very mature. He showed it today."

On things looking up: "Of course, we're taking positives from it. We had problems in the start of the season. A lot went against us. We're growing. We have to keep this process growing.

"We have to go step by step. This is one step."
