OFFICIAL: PSG Signs Ousmane Dembele From Barcelona.

Paris Saint-Germain have complete signing of Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona in a deal worth €50.4 million (£43.5m).

The French forward departs the Catalan club having just extended his contract last year to 2024 after his previous deal expired. 

He racked up a total of 185 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 40 times, along with 43 assists in 185 appearances for the club, and won three Liga titles, as well as two Copa del Reys during a six-season stay at the Camp Nou.

Ahead of the new season, Dembele has been building his fitness and scored during a 3-0 win over rivals Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly in Texas.

Dembele who has long been linked with a move away from Barcelona, has finally agreed a five-year contract at Parc des Princes until 2028, which will see him link up with former Barca boss Luis Enrique in the French capital.

The 26-year-old, reportedly rejected a number of contract offers at Barcelona. The Spanish club were keen to keep hold of him, but as he entered the last year of his contract, they were unwilling to lose him for free next summer. 

"I am very delighted to join Paris Saint-Germain and looking forward to playing in my new colours," said Dembele.

"I hope to continue to grow here and make all lovers of the club proud."

Dembele started his career at Rennes, making his debut in the 2015-16 season,    before joining Borussia Dortmund, where he scored in their victorious DFB-Pokal final against Eintracht Frankfurt in 2017.

His impressive performances in the German Bundesliga attracted the attention of Barcelona and, in the summer of 2017, he became, at the time, the joint-second most expensive footballer ever after moving to the Camp Nou for an initial fee of €105m plus add-ons on a five-year deal.

PSG welcome Dembele at a time when the future of his international team-mate Kylian Mbappe remains unknown.M

Both Mbappe and Brazil forward Neymar have been left out of PSG's squad to face Lorient in their opening Ligue 1 game on Saturday afternoon.

Mbappe, 24, has told the club he won't be renewing his current contract which expires in 2024 amid a desire to join Real Madrid.

The PSG's all-time leading goalscorer has not trained with the first-team squad.

Neymar, 31, who reportedly wants to leave the club, is recovering from a viral infection and is training indoors.

Dembele was part of France teams that won the World Cup in 2018 and reached the 2022 final last December. 

He has been capped 37 times by France, scoring four goals.

He joins the new signings Marco Asensio, Milan Skriniar, Lee Kang-in, Hugo Ekitike, Lucas Hernández and Manuel Ugarte at PSG.

The Ligue 1 champions sacked Christophe Galtier as manager in July and appointed the former Barcelona and Spain coach Luis Enrique.

They will aim to win a record-extending 12th Ligue 1 title this season and begin their title defence at home to Lorient on Saturday.
