Harry Kane Reacts To Scoring A Brace For Bayern In His Home Debut Bundesliga Game Against Augsburg.

Harry Kane continues his promising start to life in the Bundesliga, as his new club side Bayern Munich secured a 3-1 victory over FC Augsburg on Sunday afternoon.

The England captain scored twice on his home league debut to help Bayern maintain their perfect start to the Bundesliga season following the not to convincing team performance against Augsburg on Matchday 2.

After a sluggish start to the encounter at the Allianz Arena, Bayern got into their stride and opened the scoring when Leroy Sane's shot hit the post in the 32nd minute, and went in off defender Felix Uduokhai.

Merely ten minutes later, Joshua Kimmich took a shot from outside the box, and the ball struck Niklas Dorsch's hand.

Although the referee Sascha Stegemann initially missed the handball, but the Video Assistant Referee VAR intervened, prompting the ref to reverse his decision and Kane converted the spot-kick with ease in the 40th minute, becoming the first English player to score in his first two Bundesliga games.

Despite their first-half struggles to dominate the game and create dangerous opportunities, the Bavarians managed to carry a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Thomas Tuchel's team produced a much improved performance in the second half compared to the initial 45 minutes. 

Their dominance on the pitch translated into quality chances, one of which, Sane curled a fine shot against the post, before Canadian left-back Alphonso Davies played a quick one-two with Kingsley Coman on the left and then sent the ball in the box to Kane who was onside and free in the middle to loft a calm finish with the outside of his foot into the net in the 69th minute to make it 3-0.

The result that seemed unjust given Augsburg's brave performance, and they were finally rewarded, as substitute Dion Drena Beljo scored a late consolatory goal for the visitors in the 86th minute, while Kane wasted a chance to complete his hat-trick when he headed wide.

Kane’s goals rounded off a great week days after the striker’s wife gave birth to the couple’s fourth child named "Edward Henry Kane" on Sunday 21st August, 2023.

“Scoring goals is the main reason I’m here and it’s great to get a couple today,” said the ex-Tottenham forward in a post-match TV interview.

“I had another chance I could have scored but, overall, I am delighted with the result and to have contributed as well.

"It was a good win in the first home game of the season.

“We created good chances, could have scored more. We still have room for improvement in the final third of the pitch. We have great quality. I love the chemistry in the team; we’re growing together more and more.

In video on social media Kane added afterwards. "Great game today. "To score two goals in front of you fans was a special feeling.

"Lots of improvement still to come but to start the season with two wins is a really great start, so thanks for the support as always.

"You know i appreciate every single one of you there in the stadium singing my name, so look forward to next week now, recover well and let's keep it going."

 Kane has now scored in his last seven consecutive league games, five for Tottenham, and in both of his games for Bayern. 

He backed up his goal and assist in his league debut against Werder Bremen last week with a brace in his home debut on Sunday, and has seemingly settled in nicely after his £100m transfer, quickly establishing himself as the Bavarians first-choice striker.

"We're not producing the level of performance that we're producing in training, which is incredibly high,” Manager Thomas Tuchel said after the game. 

“So, you need some luck and goals like the one we scored first today. In the second half, we were calmer and more precise. We created a lot of chances but unfortunately scored only one goal.”
