"Thank You For The Warm Welcome" –Says Arsenal Star Bukayo Saka, As He Storms Lagos Nigeria. {WATCH VIDEO}
After a challenging Premier League season, Arsenal star, Bukayo Saka has taken some time off and has chosen Lagos as his vacation destination.
While other players are taking a well deserved rest in the Bahamas or the Maldives after a long football season, Saka, has been spotted in the Bariga area of Lagos in the company of security men visiting an orphanage.
Born to Nigerian parents of Yoruba ethnic extraction in the United Kingdom, Saka has always been tipped to wear the Green and white of the Super Eagles but chose to represent England the country he was born.
He has been involved in charity work in Nigeria despite choosing not to play for the Nigerian senior national team.
Saka who recently showcased the new Arsenal and Adidas home jerseys for the 2023/24 season, arrived the West African country, and was spotted on Thursday in Somolu dressed in an all-white traditional senator attire while visiting the Bales of Mercy Orphanage, set up to cater for the needs of abandoned and destitute children around Lagos.
The 21-year-old shared his experiences on social media, posting a video of himself on his official Instagram page, walking the streets of Lagos greeting Nigerians in the Yoruba local language, before expressing gratitude for the warm welcome.
In his caption of the post, He wrote, "E kuule o! (which is a simple way of announcing your home-coming in Yoruba custom i.e. "I'm back" or "I'm back home). Thank you for the warm welcome."
Saka also paid a visit to the Nigerian Red Cross Society in Lagos. In November 2022, the Arsenal star funded the operations of 120 kids in Kano State in conjunction with youth charity BigShoe.
He is expected to participate in a meet and greet with his fans before departing. This interaction will undoubtedly be a special moment for both Saka and his supporters.
Reports also suggest that Saka, would meet with Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the two-term Executive Governor of Lagos State, alongside with some top government officials during his stay in Lagos.

Saka played a key role in Arsenal’s second-place finish in the Premier League, which earned him a recent new contract until 2028, along with a significant salary increase making him the highest paid player in the North London club.
He is expected to spend some weeks in Nigeria before returning to England for the UEFA Nations League as well as pre-season for the 2023/24 season.
