Nigeria Flying Eagles team are through to the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The Flying Eagles handed the host nation a shocking 2-0 defeat as they continue their quest for a first-ever U-20 title.
Ibrahim Muhammad opened the scoring for coach Ladan Bosso’s men in 61st minute at the San Juan Del Bicentenario, before substitute Rilwanu Sarki made it 2-0 in the first minute of added time to seal a famous win over Argentina, and send the record six-time U-20 world champions packing from the tournament.
The victory ended a run of 10 straight U-20 World Cup victories for the South American team.
An elated coach Ladan Bosso stated after the game that the win against Javier Mascherano’s is a normal victory for his team.
“We had a game plan against Argentina and we stuck to it. Beating Argentina is no big deal.”
Up next for the Flying Eagles is a quarterfinal clash against either Ecuador or South Korea for a place in the semi-final.
