Mbappe Sends A Special Message To Messi After Winning The Ligue 1 Player Of The Season.

Paris Saint-Germain star, Kylian Mbappe has sent a message to fellow teammate, Lionel Messi after winning the Ligue1 Player of the Year award in the the UNFP Awards ceremony on Sunday.



The French attacker beat other contenders; Messi, Seko Fofana (RC Lens), Jonathan David (LOSC), and Lois Openda (RC Lens) to scoop the Ligue 1 Player of the Season for the fourth consecutive year, and solidifies his status as one of the premier footballers of his generation. 


Mbappe scored an impressive 28 goals, made six assists in 33 matches during the recently concluded Ligue 1 season, contributing significantly to PSG's triumph as French champions. 

He is currently one goal clear of Olympique Lyonnias forward Alexandre Lacazette in the top scorers’ charts.

The 24-year-old, surpassed the previous record held by Zlatan Ibrahimovic. As the only player to win the accolade four times, Mbappe continues to establish himself as a standout talent in French football.



Messi on the other hand, also had a shout  for the honor, especially as he has recorded an astounding 16 goals and 16 assists in 31 Ligue 1 games this season. 


Expressing his gratitude, Mbappe thanked his teammates, the staff, and the unsung heroes behind the scenes. He acknowledged the contribution from Messi, and emphasized his desire to make a lasting impact and his surprise at achieving such remarkable success at such a young age. 

Of course, I thank Leo [Messi], who has helped me a lot along with all the players. He said.

"But also the people behind the scenes who allow us to be in the best possible conditions. This record is a pleasure. I've always wanted to win and leave my name in the history of the championship. I never thought I would win so quickly."


The 2018 World Cup winner with France, added that he was proud to make history in his country and revealed his intention to remain at PSG for the upcoming season because his contract is still active but though he did not provide any hints about his plans beyond that.

"It is a pleasure to leave my name in the history of my country's championship," Mbappe said. 

"I am very happy for the renewal. Next year, I will play for Paris Saint-Germain. I still have a contract. I will fulfill my contract"


In addition to Mbappe's individual recognition, Franck Haise, the coach of RC Lens, was named the best coach of the season. 

Haise led Lens to a second-place finish, securing their qualification for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in 21 years. 

Lens also had a strong representation in the Team of the Season, with four players included which are; Goalkeeper Brice Samba, defender Kevin Danso, midfielder Seko Fofana, and striker Lois Openda.


Alongside Mbappe, PSG also had three other players selected for the Team of the Season: Lionel Messi, fullbacks Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi. The accolades highlight the exceptional talent within the Parisian club and reinforce their dominance in French football.


Mbappe and Messi are slated to feature in PSG’s final match of the season, as the Ligue 1 giants will meet Clermont Foot on Saturday June 3.
