Barcelona Advance To The UWCL Final After Knocking-Out Chelsea.

Barcelona Femení have qualified for the UEFA Women's Champions League final in Eindhoven, after defeating Chelsea women in the semi-final 2-1 on aggregate.

72,262 supporters were in attendance at the Camp Nou for the return leg encounter. It's the third largest in the history of the competition.

Barcelona have also attracted the top-four crowds in the history of women's European club football.

Chelsea made the daunting trip to Catalonia trailing 1-0 in a heavyweight last-four tie after Caroline Graham Hansen’s superb early strike settled Saturday’s first leg result at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues' defence struggled to contain the Barca winger as she followed up her goal at Stamford Bridge with one at Camp Nou in the 63rd minute.

Emma Hayes' side replied almost instantly in the 67th minute through Guro Reiten and started to pose more of a threat to Barca from there, but they couldn't score the important goal that would've taken the game to extra-time.

But Chelsea can hold their heads high, as they put up a superb effort late on, not many teams come here and avoid defeat.

This would be the third successive season that Barcelona would be reaching the final, fourth in the last five years, while Chelsea fails to make the final for a second time in their history.

The Blaugrana side is one of the  great dominator of European football together with the almighty French club Olympique Lyon, who holds the record for titles (8) and finals played (10 ) in the history of the competition.

 Jonatan Giráldez team, will face either Arsenal or Wolfsburg at the PSV stadium in Eindhoven on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

Arsenal will host German side Wolfsburg at the Emirates stadium in the second leg semi-final game on Monday, May 1.  The first leg ended 2-2 at the Volkswagen Arena on Sunday, April 23. 

Wolfsburg who has two titles, would make it to their third final in the last five seasons, sixth in history, with a win.

English club side Arsenal have only played in one final, in 2006. And they beat the Swedish Umea. At that time, the final was played over two legs and Arsenal made the 0-0 in the first leg count with 1-0 in the second leg.
