In-Form Erling Haaland Withdraws From Norway's Squad With Groin Injury.

Erling Haaland has withdrawn from Norway's squad and will return to Manchester, missing the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers games against Spain and Georgia.

The Manchester City's in-form striker will not be available for his country during the international break due to a groin injury.

Following his transfer from Borussia Dortmund to the blue side of Manchester in a £51million deal last summer, Haaland has had an instant impact at the Etihad Stadium, and he is currently leading the Premier League Golden Boot race with 28 goals in just 26 games for the reigning champions.

Haaland had recently scored eight goals in two matches for Man City, 5 goals in the 7-0 trashing over RB Leipzig in the Champions League and a Hat-trick against Burnley in the Premier League last weekend, taking his tally to 42 goals in 37 games across all competitions so far this season.

After linking up with his national  teammates this week, the 22-year-old had felt discomfort in his groin, and underwent further examinations, which saw him being given permission to return to Man City for further treatment.

A statement from the Norwegian Football Federation revealed Haaland picked up the knock during Ma City’s FA Cup 6-0 victory over Burnley on Sunday.

As a result, Haaland will not take part in Norway’s upcoming Group A games against Spain and Georgia.

Norway manager, Stale Solbakken, said: "Erling [Haaland] took it hard when he realized that he could not fight for the team.

"Fortunately, there is still plenty of self-confidence, talent and cohesion in this group to win points in the next matches. We are not going to hang on one millimetre, but continue our work to be maximally prepared for Saturday and Tuesday."

Since making his debut as a 19-year-old in September 2019, Halland has so far scored 21 goals in 23 appearances for Norway.

Haaland would now hope to recover fully in time, ahead of City's clash against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, April 1.

Pep Guardiola's side are second in the Premier League, eight points behind leaders Arsenal with a game in hand.

They also face Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals and Championship side Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley next month.
