'Bournemouth deserves the win'... Liverpool's Boss Jurgen Klopp Reacts To 1-0 Defeat.

Liverpool continued their inconsistent season following a 1-0 defeat against a relegation-threatened Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in Saturday's Premier League early kick-off.

The Reds thought they have turned their miserable season around following an emphatic 7-0 victory against fierce rivals Manchester United last weekend, but they ran into another dead end here, beaten 1-0 by a Bournemouth side that started the day bottom of the Premier League table.

Philip Billing’s first-half goal in the 28th minute in the South Coast, was enough for the Cherries to secure all three points, and move out of the relegation zone. 

Liverpool looked blunt on the attack against the league's leakiest defence, with their best chances coming from the head of Virgil van Dijk before an Adam Smith handball gave them a penalty. 

Mohamed Salah goes from hero to zero, as he stepped up but smashed his effort wide of the post, as the Reds sought a route back into the game, ending another inadequate away performance. 

They miss the chance to move into the Premier League's top four after suffering their eighth league defeat of the season.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, manager Jurgen Klopp said Bournemouth defeated his team because Liverpool failed to convert their penalty and did not create enough scoring chances against the host in the second half.

The German added that Bournemouth also fought massively and showed their quality as they kept the ball out of Liverpool players.

Klopp said, “I thought we started OK in the second half, were a bit clearer in our situations, get a penalty, miss the penalty. Now it’s of course, hypothetical – it looked a little bit for me like if we score there, it doesn’t make the game better from the first half, but it would give us a proper boost.

“But we did not score from that and then you could see we were a bit in a rush, did not create enough, in counter-attacking moments Bournemouth fought massively, with really big passion, won these balls and then the Bournemouth boys showed really their quality, how they kept the ball.

“We could not defend them in the first place so we had to track back and defend them there. I can’t remember, maybe one big chance for them or a big finish, the rest we defended but it is still pretty exhausting and then you’ve a long way back into their box, and so we lost the game. Very, very, very frustrating, yeah.”

Liverpool will now face Real Madrid in their next game in the Champions League on Wednesday.
