Bayern Munich SACK Julian Nagelsmann With Thomas Tuchel Set To Take Over

Bayern Munich have decided to make a huge managerial switch at a crucial point in the season

The German giants reportedly have reached a full agreement in place with Tuchel, according to Fabrizio Romano, with final documents being prepared on Thursday night.

Tuchel who has been living in Munich for some weeks now, will be asked to repeat the feat he pulled upon taking over mid-season at Stamford Bridge, when he won the Champions League just months into his tenure. 

The ex-Chelsea boss will inherit a talented squad that has underperformed domestically since losing Robert Lewandowski last summer but is still alive in Europe.

Tuchel was sacked by the Blues in September shortly after new-owner Todd Boehly acquired the West London club and replaced by Graham Potter. 

Since then the former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain manager, he has been linked to several jobs, including Real Madrid, where Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly on the brink of an exit.

Tuchel is expected to take his opening training session on Monday with his first game set to be against his former club Dortmund in Der Klassiker.

Nagelsmann on the other hand, never managed to fully gained the support of the Bayern fans, crashing out of the Champions League to Villarreal last season and trailing Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga this term.

He has won 60 out of 84 games in charge, but  hasn't been at the training ground this week following the lack of development of individuals and his playing style since he took charge in July 2021.

The Bavarians felt the need to act quickly in order to avoid losing their crown.

Bayern have won 10 consecutive Bundesliga titles, slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Bayern Leverkusen before the international break, and will return to action after the break against fierce rivals Dortmund in a crunch top-of-the-table clash in the Bundesliga.

Only a difference of one point separates Bundesliga leader Dortmund (53 points) and runner-up Bayern (52) before their match against each other on April 1. It's the smallest point difference of the big-five European leagues.

They also face Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals next month.

The tie sees Pep Guardiola take on his former side with the winners set to face Real Madrid or Chelsea for a place in the final.
