Leeds Manager Jesse Marsch Has Been SACKED After Less Than A Year In Charge.

Leeds United have SACKED Jesse Marsch after less than a year in charge as manager of the club.

The sack of the former coach of RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls and Red Bull Salzburg, comes following a bleak winless run that stretches all the way back to August, with the Whites currently slumped in 17th position of the Premier League table, and above the relegation zone only on goal difference.

Leeds recent defeat was on Sunday when they lost 1-0 to fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, their last win in the league was on November 5.

Marsch's side won only four of their 20 league matches this season, with six draws and 10 defeats.

The American was appointed after Marcelo Bielsa was dismissed at the tail-end of last season and managed to keep the Whites in the Premier League finishing 17th, thanks to a 2-1 win at Brentford on the final day of last season.

A club statement read: "Leeds United can confirm head coach Jesse Marsch has been relieved of his duties.

"Jesse joined the club in February 2022 and was instrumental in keeping the club in the Premier League on the final day of last season. Coaches Rene Maric, Cameron Toshack and Pierre Barrieu have also been sacked.

"We would like to thank Jesse and his backroom staff for their efforts and wish them well for the future. The process of appointing a new head coach is underway and we will continue to keep supporters up to date throughout the coming days."

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan - who previously worked under Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road - has been mentioned as a possible successor.

Leeds will play Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, and again at Elland Road on Sunday.

Marsch becomes the seventh manager to be sacked since the start of the season. He joins Frank Lampard who was axed by Everton last month, Chelsea ’s Thomas Tuchel, Steven Gerrard of Aston Villa, ex-Wolves boss Bruno Lage, Ralph Hasenhuttl at Southampton and Scott Parker at Bournemouth to lose their jobs already this season.
