Tottenham Hijacks Everton's Move For Arnaut Danjuma, As He Joins Spurs On Loan From Villarreal.

Tottenham Hotspur have hijacked Everton's move for Arnaut Danjuma just days after he nearly joined Merseyside club.

The season of hijacking is still in the air after Liverpool had hijack Man United long move for Cody Gakpo, Chelsea went ahead to steal Mykhailo Mudryk from Arsenal, and The gunners swiped Leandro Trossard from Spurs, now Tottenham has transferred aggression to poor Everton.

Danjuma had completed his medicals already for Merseyside Blue last weekend, and was expected to join Everton despite the sacking of Frank Lampard, who played a key role in the deal.

He still had the belief he could save Everton from Relegation into the English second division for the first time since the 1950-51 season.

The Toffees were in desperate need to sign the 25-year-old versatile attacker as they are currently in the Premier League relegation zone and now without a coach.

But in a dramatic twist of event, the Netherlands international suddenly travelled to London to hold talks with Spurs, and has now finalised his move to Antonio Conte's side on loan from Villarreal until the end of the season.

Danjuma was officially announced on Wednesday as a Spurs player.

“We are delighted to announce the signing of Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal until the end of the 2022/23 season, subject to international clearance,” reads a statement on Tottenham's website.

After sealing the move until the end of the season, Danjuma tweeted: "To dare is to do. Let's get to work!"

The new arrival also added via a post on the club's official Twitter page; "Hi guys, Arnaut Danjuma here. I'm very excited to be here and can't wait to see you all in the stadium. Let's go."

His arrival in north London will boost Conte's attacking options for the second half of the season, aside from Harry Kane, Spurs forwards  Heung-Min Son, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Lucas Moura have all struggled to hit top form having battled injuries, the signing will provide valuable squad depth.

Danjuma can play through the middle or out wide and has two goals in six international caps, although he missed out on a trip to the Qatar World Cup with the Netherlands.

Tottenham are hoping to secure a Champions League qualification spot for next season, and sit just three points off the Premier League's top four following Monday night's victory at Fulham.

The North London club, are also boosted by the news that Danjuma will be able to play in the Champions League. Spurs face AC Milan in the last 16, with the first of two legs taking place on February 14.

Danjuma was one of the standout performers as the Yellow Submarine reached the Champions League semi-finals last season, netting six times in 11 appearances. 

He also has Premier League experience from his time with Bournemouth but struggled to make an impact as the Cherries were relegated in 2019-20.

He spent two years with the Cherries, scoring 17 goals in 52 games, before signing for La Liga side Villarreal in 2021.

During his first season with the Spanish club, he was a key figure in a run to the Champions League semi-finals, scoring six goals in 11 appearances in the competition.

He also netted 10 times in 23 La Liga matches last season before scoring six goals in 17 games in all competitions this term.

Tottenham are next in action on Saturday, when they make the trip to Preston in the FA Cup fourth round.
