Steven Gerrard Secures First Job After Aston Villa Sacking

Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard has landed his first job since being sacked by Aston Villa after being confirmed as a "brand ambassador" for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Gerrard, 42, was recently sacked by Aston Villa last month following a poor start to the league campaign.

Villa's poor run of form left them languishing just outside the bottom three in the Premier League table.

The disappointing 3-0 loss to Fulham at Craven Cottage brought an end to Gerrard’s time in charge at Villa Park, which came just under a year after he was appointed as Dean Smith's successor in November 2021.

Gerrard left Aston Villa having overseen 13 victories, eight draws, and 19 losses in 40 games.

Villa have moved on to a new era under former Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal boss Unai Emery, with Gerrard now securing his next role.

The former Rangers boss has since been linked with a number of jobs, but he is yet to return to management.

However, he has returned to work now though ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after picking up a brand ambassadorial role with online platform, M88 Mansion.

According to the bookmakers company, Gerrard's role will be to "focus on bolstering the company’s positions in the Southeast Asian market.

Also, the Premier League legend will engage with local sports and soccer fans through digital channels and various promotional activities tailored to regional preferences.

Speaking on the decision to take on the role ahead of the tournament, Gerrard revealed how "delighted" he was regarding the opportunity after becoming the company's first official ambassador for the tournament, and he is excited to share his views with Asian fans.

“I am delighted to join M88 Mansion as their brand ambassador for the World Cup," said Gerrard per Birmingham mail.

"I couldn’t be more excited to share my experiences from my time on the field, especially my views and opinion to the Asian sports fans regarding the upcoming World Cup.”

The former England captain, could be back in the dugout shortly and is being touted as a shock candidate to replace Leam Richardson at Wigan Athletic.

The EFL Championship outfit dismissed Richardson as manager on 10 November after an eight-game losing streak.

They currently sit in 22nd position in the Championship table with just six wins in 21 fixtures.

He is currently the favourite to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst if he was to be sacked as Rangers manager.
