Victor Osimhen Scores His First Senior Career HATTRICK As Napoli Trash Sassuolo 4-0 In The Serie A.

Victor Osimhen struck a hat-trick as Napoli trashed Sassuolo 4-0 in the Italian Serie A on Saturday afternoon to extend their unbeaten Serie A run to 16 matches.

It was Osimhen's first senior career hat-trick in Europe's top five leagues, and becomes the first Nigeria player to achieve this feat in the Serie A.

In the game which went down at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, Osimhen continued his scoring form, as he put Napoli ahead in the 4th minute after latching onto a pass into the net courtesy of an assist from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The 23-year-old Nigerian extended the lead for the host (2-0) in the 19th minute when he connected to another pass from Kvaratskhelia and fired the ball behind Sassuolo keeper Andrea Consigli.

In-form Georgian winger, Kvaratskhelia continued the rout by finishing off a ball from Mario Rui in the 36th minute to make it a 3-0 lead for the Partenopei before the half-time break.

Osimhen completed his hat-trick in the 77th minute by intercepting a poor pass and lobbed the ball over Consigli putting the game beyond reach (4-0) for a poor Sassuolo side who later had Armand Lauriente sent off in the 84th minute after he picked up a second yellow card.

The hat-trick for the Super Eagles star, Osimhen sees him move top of the scoring charts with seven goals from eight games, having scored in all games since his return from hamstring injury (six goals in his last four appearances across all competitions) for Luciano Spalletti’s side.

Speaking after the game Osimhen said; "Congratulations to the team, I am happy to contribute to this win. Of course it is good to have as many goals as this, I want to keep the momentum going," He told DAZN.

"This season the coach has given me as much confidence as I can get. I am really happy to rely on him giving me the maximum confidence. I have just returned from five weeks out, which is not easy, and it is important to get really integrated with the team."

Meanwhile, the victory today extends Napoli's lead at the top of the table to six points (32 points from 12 games), although second-placed AC Milan could close it back to three points if they beat Torino away on Sunday. Sassuolo are ninth with 15 points.
