Germany defeats Nigeria's Flamingos, handing them their first loss at the ongoing 2022 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Goa, India.
With a 2-1 victory over Nigeria, European champions Germany are second in Group B with three points, alongside Chile who are first following a 3-1 win against New Zealand.
The match went down at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru (Fartoda) Stadium, and in the 30th minute of the game, Miracle Usani converted a straight free kick that Etim Edidiong had gained for the Bankole Olowookere squad.
In the 49th minute, Hamburger defender Svea Stoldt equalized the score before Mara Alber made it 2-1 in the 61st minute for Germany.
Now, the Flamingoes who are three-time quaterfinalists, will play New Zealand in their next match on Friday before their last Group B game against Chile on Monday night.
The Flamingoes' best performances came in the 2010 and 2012 editions, when they advanced to the quarterfinals of the world championship.
Elsewhere in Group A, Brazil beat Morocco 1-0, while the United States trashed India 8-0.
