Tuchel and Conte Reacts To Touchline Bust-Up Following A Frenetic 2-2 Draw Between Chelsea And Tottenham.

Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel were shown a red card each, after being separated twice at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were held to a late controversial 2-2 draw by London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The London derby saw both teams face each other in their second Premier League game into the new season at Stamford Bridge. 

Having finished third and fourth in the table just behind Liverpool and eventual winners Man City last season, both sides won their opening game against Everton and Southampton respectively.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were dominant for much of the match and took a first-half lead with Kalidou Koulibaly, scoring a superb volley in the 19th minute on his home debut.

The Blues rarely looked troubled but Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg got Spurs level with 20 minutes remaining, sparking the first clash between the two managers which was triggered by a debate on whether Hojberg's goal should have stood.

German Tuchel suggested Kai Havertz was fouled in the build-up to the goal by Rodrigo Bentacur, but Referee Anthony Taylor played on.

Both managers and one member of each's coaching staff were shown a yellow card for the incident. 

Chelsea re-took the lead just minutes later, with Reece James seeming to have sealed the points for the hosts with a 77th-minute strike, as Tuchel sprinted past a distraught Conte on his way to celebrate Chelsea's second goal.

Tottenham secured another equaliser, this time in the last minute of the game, through Harry Kane who rose to head home a corner in the 90+6 minute.

The 2-2 result of the ill-tempered London derby at full-time, sparked another clash between Tuchel and Conte.

Following an attempted handshake, things again kicked off with the two once again squaring up, each in the other's face, as Tuchel was angered by Conte's refusal to look his opposite number in the eyes.

Both managers were ambushed by staff and players in an attempt to prevent things going over the top, but that didn't stop them from receiving their marching orders.

Thomas Tuchel reacting to the incidence said: "I thought when we shake hands you looked in each other eyes. He had a different opinion. It was not necessary but a lot of things were not necessary. 

"There are no hard feelings. I feel like it was a fair tackle from him (Conte) and a fair tackle from me. We did not insult each other, we did not hit each other, we are fighting for our teams."

The Chelsea boss was clear on what made him angry: "There was a clear foul on Kai Havertz and the situation goes on and on. Richarlison was offside and when can you pull hair on a football field?"

"We dominated for 90 minutes, both goals cannot stand, absolutely cannot stand, there's only one team who deserves to win, it's us." 

Conte when asked on his issues with Tuchel and told Sky Sports : "In my opinion it is better to talk about the game. It was exciting, difficult for both teams but I know we want to try and be competitive. Chelsea showed how good they are, but maybe compared to last season we did a better job.

"I repeat I don't want to comment on the situation as it is not the most important thing then it's a problem between me and him. Speak about the game and not this situation, we are here to speak about football."

He went on to add: "Chelsea away is not simple - they are a good team. It is normal to come here and suffer but at the same time we need to stay in the game and the difference is clear - they play in Carabao Cup final, Champions League final, World Cup finals. I'm here to try and reduce this gap, but we need time. Last season we lost three times and now we drew which is a little step forward."
