Real Madrid Vs Eintracht Frankfurt 2022 UEFA Super Cup Final... Team News, Possible Starting Xi, And Prediction.

Champions League winners Real Madrid are set to take on Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2022 UEFA Super Cup final, which is a traditional opener to the new UEFA club competition season.

The Spanish La Liga winners, qualified as the winners of the 2021/22 Champions league having beaten Liverpool 1-0 at the Stade de France, Paris in May. 

German club Eintracht Frankfurt booked their place by beating Rangers in the Europa League final at Sevilla's Stadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. The game ended 1-1 but the Bundesliga side won 5-4 on penalties.

This would be the first time since the 1960 European Cup final that the two sides have faced each other competitively. Real Madrid won that game 7-3 at Hampden Park in Glasgow.

The match is taking place on Wednesday 10 August at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium in Finland. It is the first time that a UEFA club competition final will be held in Finland.

Team News:

According to reports, Carlo Ancelotti will not be starting the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni who just joined the club this summer as he wants the players who won the tournament to play the final.

The duo are seemingly fighting an uphill battle to become regular starters this season.

As was the case last year, Rodrygo may be kept on the bench until required, with Federico Valverde being given the nod to join Benzema and Vinicius in the final third.

Meanwhile, Frankfurt are set to travel without Filip Kostic who is very close to a move to Italian side Juventus for €17m as confirmed by manager Oliver Glasner on Tuesday.

Kostic, who is capable of playing anywhere on the left side, leaves Frankfurt as one of the club's most cherished players in recent memory. 

The 29-year-old Serbian delivered an assist in the Europa League final victory over Rangers in May and was involved in 21 goals across all competitions last season.

This would therefore see Christopher Lenz start on the left-hand side for Frankfurt.

Manager Glasner has already ruled defender Jerome Onguene out of the Super Cup, with the 24-year-old still sidelined with a troublesome thigh problem, and Aurelio Buta is recovering from knee surgery.

Frankfurt will be looking to bounce back from a 6-1 humiliating defeat at home to Bayern Munich in their 2022/23 Bundesliga opener last Friday.
