OFFICIAL: Marseille Completes The Signing Of Eric Bailly On A Season-long Loan From Man United.
Marseille have completed the signing of Eric Bailly from Man United on loan for the rest of the season.
The French club, will cover his wages, and have obligation to buy centre-back for 6m euros (£5.07m) , subject to appearances and whether they qualify for Champions League.
Bailly joined United for £30m from Villarreal in the summer of 2016 but the Ivorian struggled to hold down a first-team place.
He made 113 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring once.
He helped the club win the League Cup and Europa League in his first season but he has also been hampered by injuries throughout his time at Old Trafford.
The arrival of Raphael Varane last season and Lisandro Martinez this summer has pushed him down the pecking order at Old Trafford, with competition from also Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof for same spot.
A statement from United described Bailly as a "popular member" of the squad and added: "Eric has our best wishes for the campaign to come and we will be following his progress closely."
