Chelsea Beats Barcelona And AC Milan To Agree On A Deal To Sign Nigeria-Eligible Wonderkid Carney Chukwuemeka From Aston Villa.

Chelsea have beaten Barcelona and AC Milan im the race to sign Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa.

The West London club officially announced on Tuesday that they have reached an agreement to sign the 18-year-old wonderkid Carney Chukwuemeka for £20m.

Chukwuemeka who was born in Austria to Nigerian parents, represents England at youth international level, most recently captaining the England U19 side. 

He played academy football for Northampton Town, before moving to the Aston Villa Academy in March 2016 aged twelve, and signed his first professional contract four years later.

Chukwuemeka starred for England in the Under-19 European Championship last month, also earned a spot in the Team of the Tournament, as he helped his country lift the trophy with a win over Israel in the final.

He has previously been compared to  the likes of Paul Pogba and Dele Alli, and he is highly seen as one of the Premier League's brightest young prospects.

The midfielder, was left out of Villa's pre-season tour to Australia after refusing to sign a new contract, which expires next summer.

He made 12 Premier League appearances for Villa last season.

Both Chelsea and Villa confirmed Chukwuemeka has been given permission to travel to London to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.

He would become Chelsea's third signing of the summer following the arrival of  England international Raheem Sterling from Manchester City for £50m, and Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli for £34m.

La Liga giants Barcelona, Serie A champions AC Milan and Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund were all reported linked with Chukwuemeka.

Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Liverpool had also all previously considered signing the 18-year-old.

Boss Thomas Tuchel is still keen to further strengthen the Stamford Bridge side. He is interested in signing Marc Cucurella after Brighton ended discussions with Manchester City over the sale of the Spanish left-back.
