Arsenal Cruise Past Bournemouth To Go Top Of The Premier League Table

Arsenal cruised to a 3-0 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, to make it three wins from three games this season, sending the North London club to the top of the Premier League table.

An early brace from the new club captain Martin Odegaard propelled the visitors to the top of the Premier League as Arsenal cruised to win against Bournemouth.

The defender scored his first goal for the team as the Gunners maintained their unblemished start to the new season with a wonderful goal from William Saliba to complete their 3-0 victory at the Vitality Stadium.

Odegaard gave Arsenal the lead after just 11 seconds, marking the first time since scoring twice for Stromsgodset in October 2014 that the Norwegian international has placed Arsenal ahead.

As Arsenal sat at the bottom of the table without a point or goal at this point in the previous season, Mikel Arteta was facing calls to have his job removed.

Although he didn't add to his goal total on the south coast, Gabriel Jesus, a summer transfer from Brazil, had a significant role in the team's dramatic turnaround in fortunes.

With less than five minutes left in the game, Odegaard was there to score one of the most straightforward goals of his career.

Soon after, he extended the advantage by seizing on Jesus' errant touch in the area and blasting past Mark Travers to put Arsenal on track for another three points.

Arsenal had to wait until after the break to further increase their lead despite being in the lead, but the goal was worth the wait.

Saliba scored his first goal in English football after receiving Granit Xhaka's perfectly placed pass from Martinelli's deep cross. Saliba has had a strong start to life with the Arsenal team.

Jesus believed he had joined the fun when he gathered an Odegaard pass and finished expertly, but the celebrations were cut short as VAR disallowed the attempt for a slight offside.

However, manager Mikel Arteta was not happy with his team conceding too many chances to the hosts after the break.

“Still far from a perfect performance,” Arteta said in an interview with Sky Sports after the game.

“We had some strong periods. In the second half we conceded too many chances for Bournemouth. I’m proud, it’s not easy to come here and win 3-0 but there are still things to prove.

“We started the game really well. We were dominant, precise. The two goals gave us a lot of confidence. Jesus was involved in the goals. His contribution to the team was outstanding.”

"Individual actions make a difference in football and Gabriel Jesus is doing them week in, week out," Arteta added.

"He was involved in the goals and his contributions to the team have been outstanding. He's still 25 so he can improve his level a lot. He is hungry enough and has a huge desire to get better and better."

"We will try till the end. The transfer window is tricky at the moment, we will try to do something else but let’s see what we can do," Arteta said when asked whether there could be more arrivals between now and the transfer deadline on September 1.
