Senegalese Star, Sadio Mane Wins The 2022 African Footballer Of The Year.

Former Liverpool star, Sadio Mane has won the CAF African men's Best Player of the year award for second consecutive time.

At the Confederation of African Football's awards ceremony on Thursday in Rabat, Morocco, the Senegal captain energed the 2022 winner ahead of former teammate, Mohammed Salah and his National teammate, Eduoard Mendy.

Sadio Mane has won the African Footballer of the Year award twice, making him the tenth player to do so.

Less than 24 hours after making his Bayern debut in the United States which saw him converted a penalty for his new club in a 6-2 pre-season friendly win over DC United in Washington on Wednesday, Mane was in Morocco's capital to accept his prize in person.

He had, won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup with Liverpool in the previous season where he had 51 appearances, 23 goals and 5 assists in all competition.

Salah was the standout player in England's Premier League last season, winning the Golden Boot with 23 goals and topping the assists chart with 13.

Mane who left Liverpool to join German giants Bayern Munich in June, twice got the better of Salah at international scene, leading the Teranga Lions to beat Salah's Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations final to win his nation first ever AFCON title in February.

He then again helped his country clinch one of Africa's five qualifying tickets for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in March against same Egypt.

Mane becomes the sixth player to receive the award exactly twice in the history of the award. Salah, Didier Drogba, Roger Milla, Nwankwo Kanu, and El Hadji Diouf round out the group.

While Yaya Toure and Samuel Eto'o have each won the prize four times, George Weah and Abedi Pele have each won the prize three times.
