PSG announce the signing of Vitinha from Porto on a five-year deal

The Ligue 1 champions announced on Thursday that midfielder Vitinha had been acquired by Paris Saint-Germain from Porto on a five-year deal.

The 22-year-old, PSG's first summer acquisition, joined the French team for a reported fee of roughly €40 million (£34.4 million), according to local media reports.

Since his professional debut in 2020, Vitinha has made a total of 59 appearances and scored four goals for the Portuguese team.

He has three Portugal caps and assisted Porto in winning the league title and two domestic cups last season.

'A great challenge awaits me and I cannot wait to start,' Vitinha said in an interview on PSG's official website.

'I will try to play the football I know and help the team achieve their goals as much as possible.'

The Porto youth product has spent most of his career in his home country but was sent on a one-year loan to Wolves for the 2020-21 season.

With his former team last season, Vitinha played a prominent role after starting 27 league games.

He was one of three Porto players selected for the division's best XI for the 2021–22 season, and he earned his international debut in March.

Wolves had the opportunity to buy him permanently last summer, but they declined, which gave PSG the opportunity to step in and seal the deal just recently.

Nuno Mendes and Danilo Pereira, both of whose permanent contracts were signed today, will play with Vitinha at the Parc des Princes.
