Darwin Nunez Shines Bright As Liverpool Hammer RB Lepzig In Preseason Clash

 Darwin Nunez gave the kind of performance on Thursday that will give Liverpool fans a lot of confidence in their prized summer acquisition.

 

The Uruguayan attacker scored four goals in the closing 45 minutes of Liverpool's 5-0 preseason demolition of RB Leipzig after coming off the bench after the break. 

A day after Sadio Mané made an unofficial declaration about joining Bayern Munich, his supposed replacement did the same.

 Nunez was given the opportunity to take the penalty shot by Mohamed Salah, who also scored Liverpool's opening goal. 

After being sent in behind by Trent Alexander-Arnold with a quick layoff pass, the former Benfica wonder scored his second goal just three minutes later, scoring from inside the Leipzig area.

 He finished off his hat trick in the 68th minute by deflecting in a cross from six yards out after Liverpool forced a turnover deep in Leipzig's end. 

This gave Liverpool a 4-0 lead. As if that weren't enough, he added a fourth in the 90th minute, curling in a low shot after being set up by fellow newcomer Fabio Carvalho's run forward.

 Although it is only preseason, the 23-year-old can use it to boost his self-esteem going into his first Premier League season and the enormous expectations that come with the $75 million transfer fee that Liverpool paid to acquire him.
