Cristiano Ronaldo Tells Man United He Wants To Leave This Summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly asked Manchester United to let him leave if they receive a good offer this summer because he wants to play Champions League football.

In the latter stages of his career, the 37-year-old feels the need to win even more trophies, but it's believed he fears it may not be achievable at Old Trafford in the upcoming year. The 2021/22 season marked United's fifth consecutive year without a trophy.

Ronaldo is reportedly also disappointed that United hasn't added any players to the roster during the current transfer window. This summer, the club lost thirteen players, but none have yet to return.

Ronaldo has a great deal of respect for United, especially the supporters, and is thought to be "in love" with the team, but if he continues at Old Trafford, this coming season will mark the first time in his career that he will not play Champions League football.

The Portuguese last competed in its predecessor, the UEFA Cup, while he was at Sporting Lisbon in the 2002–03 season. United will play in the Europa League for the first time next season.

Ronaldo is eager to leave, but United has taken the position that he is not for sale and that he will stay until the end of his contract, which runs out in the summer of 2023.

Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona and Tyrell Malacia of Feyenoord have agreements in place, and United is also interested in acquiring Christian Eriksen, and Ajax center back Lisandro Martinez.

Ronaldo re-joined United in August of last year in a deal with Juventus worth just under £20 million. 

The 37-year-old scored 24 goals in 38 games, emerging the club's top scorer, and also third in the overall Premier League standings. 

He at times appeared to be frustrated as the team struggled under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and later with Ralf Rangnick to finish sixth, gathering their lowest points tally ever in Premier League history.
