REVEALED! Super Eagles Predicted XI, Team News Ahead Of Sierra Leone Test For 2023 AFCON Qualifiers.

 Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Guinea-Bissau all qualified for the Afcon in Cameroon in 2021, but they were all assigned to Group A alongside Sao Tome and Principe.

Only two of these sides may qualify for the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, with the Super Eagles favored to win the tournament and make their 20th participation.

The three-time African champions will be looking to snap a five-game losing streak when they face the Leone Stars on home grounds.

Nigeria's last victory came in a 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau at the 2021 Afcon in Garoua Cameroon last January, followed by two losses and three draws.

After two defeats to the El-Tri of Mexico and Ecuador in the United States of America, the Super Eagles return to play at home behind closed doors due to FIFA sanctions.

It will be the first competitive Super Eagles game in Nigeria, since the disappointing 1-1 draw against the Black Stars of Ghana at the MKO Abiola which cost the country a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Super Eagles have a chance to appease the fans but need to start with victory against Sierra Leone.

Both teams last met each other in a double header game in November 2020 for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers, playing out a 4-4 draw in Nigeria, and a 0-0 draw in Sierra Leone.

Team News

Jose Peseiro's team has shown some promising indications under the Portuguese tactician, but Sierra Leone will not be easy to beat. After two draws at the Afcon in Cameroon, the Leone Stars won friendly matches against Liberia and Congo in March.

Several vital players were unavailable against Mexico and Ecuador, but head coach Jose Peseiro has added a couple more key players as he seeks for his first win with the Super Eagles.

Victor Osimhen of Napoli, Oghenekaro Etebo of Stoke City, Zaidu Sanusi of Porto, and team captain Ahmed Musa will also join the squad.

Despite the absence of goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, the Eagles have enough quality to outclass their opponents.

For the visitors, Sierra Leone who haven’t played any football since March, they are in Nigeria looking to compound Super Eagles’ woes. The Leone Stars defeated Congo in a friendly in their last game.
