Man United And Chelsea Joins Barcelona In The Race Of Signing Robert Lewandowski From Bayern Munich.

Manchester United and Chelsea, have joined the race to sign Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, if his move to Barcelona collapses.

Lewandowski has been heavily linked to Barcelona as their primary summer target in the past weeks, but that move is believed to have hit a stumbling block because of Barcelona’s current financial situation.

Man United could now hijack the deal and sign the Polish striker.

President of the Spanish football club side Javier Tebas, have no chance of sealing a deal of that amount, without breaking the financial regulations now operating in La Liga.

He told Spanish sports website Mundo Deportivo that; “Barça, today, cannot sign him. “He knows perfectly our rules of economic control and his financial situation. The rules are to avoid major economic problems in the entities.”

The 33-year-old has already made it clear he wants to leave Germany this summer with a cut-price, but Bundesliga giants Bayern don't want to sell their Hitman and, are reportedly demanding a fee of £40m plus and that is a massive problem for the Catalans.

However, Lewandowski is still not willing to remain in Munich to run down the last year of his contract, having scored 344 goals in 374 appearances so far.

This has led to breakdown in his relationship with the German champions in recent days amid a public slanging match with their head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

With the irreparable damage being done, Lewandowski’s exit before August seems inevitable, as Bayern’s ongoing pursuit of Liverpool striker Sadio Mane could be a world-class replacement. 

According to the Star, Man United and Chelsea are closely monitoring the situation, as they look to seize on the opportunity to sign the star striker and improve their attacks next season.

United have already missed out on top striker target Darwin Nunez, with the Benfica and Uruguay man set to sign for bitter-rivals Liverpool.

Despite not playing Champions League football, United wouldn't be put off by Lewandowski wages of around £400,000 per week wages in order to scope out any interest from the Premier League.

Chelsea on the other hand cannot make any quick move for Lewandowski, until they off-load £97.5m club-record buy Romelu Lukaku, but his former club Inter Milan who wants to get him back cannot afford to buy him back with that amount.

Lukaku, 29, will have to take a massive cut in his £450,000 weekly Blues salary, while Inter want him on a two-year loan deal, with an option to buy the Stamford Bridge flop at the end of that period.
