Liverpool Set To Complete The Transfer Of Benfica's Darwin Nunez.

Darwin Núñez is likely to become Liverpool's most expensive summer acquisition, with the Reds breaking the club transfer record to sign the 22-year-old striker from Benfica for £85 million (€100 million) with add-ons.

While there is no official word yet from Liverpool, sources in Uruguay claim that after a meeting in the morning, the transaction is now finalized, and that the player will travel to England to have a physical and sign a five-year contract with the Premier League team.

On Friday evening, Tenfield Uruguay writer Diego reported that the sum had been agreed upon—a base of £68 million (€80 million) plus £17 million (€20 million) in possible add-ons—and that the player will now travel to finalise the deal.

A few hours later, the owner of UD Almerica in La Liga—the club that brought Nunez to Europe from Pearol in Uruguay and is due to collect 20% of the profit from the sale—sent out his own confirmation of the purchase on social media.

Uruguay coach confirmed that Núñez has been left out of the team for tonight game. No risk as he’s set to complete his move to Liverpool in the next days. 

While all transfers carry some risk, it's an unmistakable show of determination from Liverpool as they prepare for life without Sadio Mané and stay up with Manchester City, who just concluded a deal to sign Erling Haaland.
