Gabriel Jesus’ Shirt Number at Arsenal Revealed.

A leaked video footage posted via social media on Thursday morning, has shown Arsenal's new incoming man Gabriel Jesus wearing the number 9 shirt at the Emirates Stadium, as he closes in on a £45million move from Manchester City. 

The Brazilian striker having  undergone his medicals, was given a tour at the Arsenal's Emirates Stadium and was filmed by the club's media team walking on the side of the pitch leaking his new squad number ahead of the official announcement.

He is set to compete with Eddie Nketiah, who recently signed a new deal, for the centre-forward spot.

The No:9 shirt was recently vacated after the departure of Alexandre Lacazette to Lyon as a free agent. Lacazette wore the jersey since the 2017/2018 campaign.

It has previously been worn by the likes of the late Jose Antonio Reyes, Nicolas Anelka, Alan Smith and Charlie McNicholas. The more recent history of the number has not been the most successful.

Lucas Perez, Lukas Podolski, Chu-young Park Eduardo, and Julio Baptista have all been adorned with the famous number.

Jesus leaves Man City after six years not because of not being good enough, but as a result of competition for places in the team, as he is seeking more playing time to boost his chances with his national team.

He started just 21 Premier League games last season, scoring eight goals and the same number of assists to help the team lift the title with a single point advantage over rivals Liverpool.

The 25-year-old forward who is at the peak of his career spent last two seasons operating from the wings, his overall record stands at 95 goals and 46 assists in 236 appearances for City.
