Chelsea Are Interested In Juventus Centre-Back Matthijs De Ligt.

Chelsea is hoping to add defensive reinforcements in this transfer window after losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. Matthijs de Ligt's Juventus contract contains a £103 million (€120 million) release clause that is set to expire in 2024.

The Netherlands defender joined the Italian Giant in 2019 from Ajax, in a deal that cost Juventus  €75m (£67.8m) intial transfer fee making De Ligt the most expensive defender in Italian top-flight history.

De Ligt - Ajax's youngest-ever captain - led the Eredivisie club to a domestic league and cup double in 2018/2019 season, as well as taking them to the Champions League semi-finals in which they lost to Tottenham in the final seconds in Amsterdam.

The £103 million (€120 million) release clause in the 22-year-old Netherlands defender's Juventus contract, which is set to expire in 2024, means that the team will only consider bids that are quite near to that sum.

Juventus club chiefs met with De Ligt's agent Rafaela Pimenta on Thursday, mainly to speak about Paul Pogba's potential return to Turin.

Chelsea are reportedly also in talks with Sevilla's Jules Kounde, Over a possible transfer.

After losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen to contract expirations, Chelsea is looking to bolster its defense during the current transfer window.
