Arsenal Star Thomas Partey Reveals Why He Converted From Christianity to Islam And Receives Chieftaincy Title In His Hometown.

Arsenal star, Thomas Teye Partey, has finally revealed that the reason he converted to Islam was because of gorgeous Moroccan girlfriend, Sara Bella.

Born as a Christian in the Eastern Region of Ghana, Partey’s conversion came as a surprise to some Ghanaian football followers.

The 28-year-old reportedly converted to Islam after months of studying the religion at his base in England. Earlier this year, Partey was sighted, in photos posted on Twitter, with an Imam that suggested he had gladly accepted the religion.

In a video shared by ace broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah, Partey said he converted because of the woman and there is nothing wrong with it.

In the video, the Black Stars midfielder and vice captain said: “I have a girl I love, I know my side chics will leave me but it’s no problem… I grew up with Muslims so at the end of the day it is the same thing”.

He also said that he is married to her after he was asked when he intends to tie the knot with her saying “I am already married and my Muslim name is Yakubu”.

Partey, was recently installed as a development chief in his hometown of Odumase Krobo, Ghana. 

In a short ceremony on Friday, June 3, 2022, the midfielder was conferred with the title of “Mahefalor, which translates as defender of the area.

The former Atletico Madrid star received a chieftaincy title from his ancestral people of Manya Krobo, a Municipal District in Ghana’s Eastern Region, for an “outstanding team leadership and astonishing performance” with which he led the Black Stars to beat Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the decisive 2022 FIFA World Cup African qualifying playoff round.

He was also being recognized for the Thomas Partey Foundation, which was founded in 2021, with the goal of assisting talented and underprivileged young footballers to reach their full potential at the world stage. 

In the absence of Andre Ayew, Partey was Ghana stand-in captain when the Black Stars played Nigeria in the two-legged 2022 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers play-off fixture.

He was not included Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2023 AFCON Qualifiers later this month due to Injury.
