AC Milan Place First Bid To Sign Departing Real Madrid Captain Marcelo.

A number of clubs are interested in signing Marcelo for next season after his departure from Real Madrid was confirmed, with AC Milan making the most solid offer.

According to a report from Diario AS, Marcelo has been offered a €3 million net per year contract by the Rossoneri, but it appears that the Brazilian is unconvinced by the thought of playing for Milan for that amount, which is half of what he earns at Real Madrid.

Marcelo's time at Real Madrid will come to an end this month June 30, and has said his goodbye to the club in an emotional farewell event earlier this month.

The 34-year-old leaves Los Blancos as one of the most decorated players in the history of the club, having won six La Liga titles and five UEFA Champions League crowns, along with numerous other honours.

In total, after joining from Fluminense in January 2007, Marcelo made 544 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 34 times and assisting 104 goals. However, he was reduced to a backup player over the past couple of seasons, with Ferland Mendy assuming duties as the first-choice left-back.

Milan will continue to pursue the departing Real Madrid captain and have not ruled out improving their offer, according to the report, but they will need to move quickly because the transfer window has closed.

Marcelo has been linked with a move back to his homeland of Brazil but is keen on remaining in Europe. 

Turkish giants Fenerbahce is another club to have shown an interest in the veteran, while Real Valladolid, Marseille are also linked with a move.
