Toni Kroos Reveals What He Told Carlo Ancelotti To Do Before Historic Comeback Against Man City.

Toni Kroos has stated that he assisted Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti in deciding which players to bring off the bench in the Champions League semi-final against Manchester City.

With 22 minutes remaining, the experienced midfielder was replaced by Rodrygo, a Brazilian attacker.

Los Blancos needed two goals in 17 minutes plus stoppage time to keep their Champions League dreams alive, and Pep Guardiola's side took the lead just five minutes later, prompting Ancelotti to turn to his bench once more.

Substitute Rodrygo scored twice in the final minutes to force extra time, before star Karim Benzema calmly converted a penalty after being fouled inside the box.

Kroos told DAZN, as reported by Goal, that he assisted Ancelotti in deciding who should come off the bench after Madrid's miraculous 6-5 aggregate victory.

He stated, " "The coach had some reservations about who he would bring on and who he would not.

"We [the Madrid players] have all watched a few football matches. This permits you to have a brief discussion." That perfectly describes him [Ancelotti] and why things with the team always go well. It's outstanding. He makes the final decision, although he is obviously interested in our thoughts."

Ancelotti replaced midfielders Luka Modric and Casemiro with Marco Asensio and Eduardo Camavinga after Riyad Mahrez put the away side ahead on the night and 5-3 on aggregate.

Both players, along with Rodrygo, went on to play key roles in the rest of the match, with all three substitutes contributing to Madrid's first two goals.

Ancelotti, who has already reached his fifth Champions League final as a manager, will now face Liverpool in Paris on May 28 in what will be the Italian's third final versus the Reds in the competition.
