Liverpool Crowned FA Cup Champions For The First Time In 16-Years.

Liverpool have been crowned 2021/22 FA Cup for the eighth time, and the first time in 16-years (1964/65, 1973/74, 1985/86, 1988/89, 1991/92, 2000/01, 2005/06, 2021/22).

Liverpool ended the long-wait to lift the world-famous and oldest trophy to the skies following a 5-6 victory via penalties over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.

Both German managers Tuchel and Klopp met for the 19th time in top-level football at Wembley, in a repeat of February's Carabao Cup final when Liverpool prevailed 11-10 on penalties, after an absorbing goalless draw, while their two Premier League meetings this season have also ended as draws.

Chelsea entered the game hoping they can end Liverpool's hopes of winning all four trophies today, and also hoped to go one better than last season, where Leicester City narrowly beat them 1-0 in the competitions final last season.

Liverpool's boss Jurgen Klopp saw his determination to win the FA Cup come to fruition for the first time in his anfield tenure following a tightly-contested encounter that ended goalless after extra-time, as the Reds aim to keep their quadruple bid alive.

After the Blues Captain Cesar Azpilicueta missed Chelsea's second spot kick, Liverpool had the advantage, leaving Sadio Mane with the last kick to win it for the Reds, but the Senegalese was denied by his country-man Edouard Mendy.

The shoot-out went on to sudden death until Mason Mount missed Chelsea second of seven penalties, which paved way for Konstantinos Tsimikas to net the winner with the 14th penalty of the shootout.

Having won the Caraboa Cup in a similar fashion over same Chelsea in February, Liverpool are already in the Champions League final where they would face La Liga champions Real Madrid in Paris on May 28, and are still in contention with Man City for the Premier League title.

Klopp has now become the first German manager to win the FA Cup, and has delivered Liverpool's first league title in 30 years, their first FA Cup in 16 years and their first European title in 14 years!
