OFFICIAL: Ajax Announce Alfred Schreuder As Erik Ten Hag Replacement.

Ajax has officially announced that Alfred Schreuder, the current head coach of Club Brugge, will take over from Manchester United's Erik ten Hag.

The 49-year-old, whose only previous managing experience was a brief stint with FC Twente, has signed a contract with the Amsterdam club that will last until 2024, with an option to extend for another year. From January 2018 to January 2019, Schreuder served as Ten Hag's assistant, assisting Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals and a league and cup double.

On Wednesday evening, incoming United boss Ten Hag took command of his final home encounter, as his side thrashed Heerenveen 5-0 to claim his third Eredivisie title in four seasons with the club. "Becoming head coach at Ajax is an honor and a tremendous chance, which I will seize with both hands," Schreuder said in a statement. I'm also looking forward to returning because I had a great time working at Ajax for the past year and a half.

"I want to win prizes with a club that plays exciting football here in Amsterdam. With a decent mix of seasoned top players and big-name prospects. But first and foremost, I want to see Club Brugge finish the season strong. I want to leave with a title that is very significant to me, and I will do everything in my power to get it."
