Erling Haaland’s Transfer To Man City Is A ‘Done Deal’ And Will Likely Be Announced This Week.

Manchester City have reportedly wrapped up a deal to sign Erling Braut Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

The club is poised to announce the signing  in the coming weeks.

According to The Athletic, Haaland will move to City this summer with confirmation expected later in the week.

Sources in Germany have described the deal as being ‘done’ in what represents a massive coup for Guardiola’s team.

It’s added that personal terms are complete and that Dortmund anticipate City informing them in the coming days of their intention to activate the striker's €75 million release clause.

Despite rumours, Erling Haaland’s salary agreed with Man City won’t go beyond the level agreed with Kevin De Bruyne, now worth around £375,000 per week, he is expected to sign a contract with Man City until June 2027 - so he’s not gonna break City salary structure.

The 21-year-old has been prolific ever since his arrival at the Westfalenstadion from RB Salzburg in January 2020, scoring 85 goals in 88 appearances and contributing to 23 assists, following his 29 goals and seven assists in 27 appearances for Salzburg.

Despite been linked with a move to Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona who are keen to revamp their squad ahead of next season, the Norway international is primed to move to the Premier League with Pep Guardiola's team now beckons. 

Dortmund CEO had said earlier on the Manchester United almost signed Haaland during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stint at the club, the 20-time English champions were thought to be in pole position to sign him having been previously managed by Solskjaer at Molde.

 

Man City on the other hand, have been on the lookout for a striker to replace the outgoing Sergio Aguero ego left to join Barca over the past year.

They came close to landing Harry Kane from Spurs 12 months ago, but despite tabling outrageous bids, Tottenham's chairman Daniel Levy refused to let the England star leave the club.

Haaland's father, Alf-Inge, had previously played for City during his own playing days.

And, now, his son is primed to follow in his footsteps.

Having suffered injury issues, Haaland has managed to score 28 goals and added eight assists in 27 games for BVB this season.

Dortmund who is sure to finish the season in second position, will play their last game of the season on Saturday at home to Hertha Berlin.

What Number Will Haaland Likely Wear At Man City:

Haaland could likely wear the No. 9 shirt at the Etihad Stadium, as the current occupant Gabriel Jesus is set to be offloaded when Haaland arrives.

Jesus is a reported target for Arsenal, having previously worked with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta in Manchester City.
