Dortmund Signs Karim Adeyemi From Salzburg Shortly After Erling Haaland Move.

Borussia Dortmund have officially completed the signing of German sensation Karim Adeyemi from Austrian club RB Salzburg.

The German club announced the move on social media, not long (62 minutes) after Erling Haaland left to join Manchester City.

The 20-year-old signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga side for a reported €38m, meaning he will be at Dortmund until the end of  2026/2027 season, and will essentially be replacing the departing Haaland as the primary striker for the club.

Adeyemi is the third signing by Dortmund for the 2022-23 season, following the deals for Niklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck.

"Karim Adeyemi is a very talented young German international whose strength at the end of our attacking game will look just as good as his extreme speed," said Michael Zorc, Dortmund's sporting director.

"In addition, Adeyemi has a great fondness for BVB, because his heart was already beating for the black and yellow when he was young and that he has decided to reject many offers from the main European leagues in order to play for Borussia Dortmund."

The German international who joined Salzburg in 2019 replacing Haaland when the Norwegian star left the Austrian League.

He has scored 23 goals and made eight assists from 42 appearances across all competitions for Salzburg this season.

Adeyemi expressed his delight on following the confirmation of the transfer to Dortmund, a club whom he had been following since he was a child.

"As a child, I was fascinated by the fast-paced football of Dortmund," Adeyemi said.

"That is why it quickly became clear to me that I would like to sign for BVB when I heard about Dortmund's interest.

"I deliberately signed a long-term contract because I am convinced that we will be an exciting team that, with the support of the fantastic Dortmund fans, will be able to play and win titles."
