Calvin Bassey Makes The Europa League Team Of The Season Which Has Frankfurt Dominance.
UEFA's Technical Observer panel has released its 2021/22 Europa League Team of the Season following the completion of the tournament on Wednesday night.
The final XI all features players from teams who made it to the semifinals of the competition, with eventual champions, Eintracht Frankfurt boasting four representatives.
Kevin Trapp, Martin Hinteregger, Filip Kostic, and Rafael Borre all made it to the list for the champions.
Nigerian star Calvin Bassey and two other Rangers players (James Tavernier, and Ryan Kent) were selected in the Europa League team of the season.
Despite being cruelly on the losing side after the shoot-out, Bassey has been lavished with praise by pundits over his impressive display at centre-back.
The 22-year-old has grown into a key player for Giovanni van Bronckhorst, not only in his natural left-full-back role but also in the centre of defence, putting up a sensational performance in the UEL final.
Bassey who is the only African to make the list, is placed on the left side of a three-man defence alongside Craig Dawson of West Ham and Frankfurt’s Martin Hinteregger in a 3-4-3 formation.
