Barcelona And Chelsea Could Wait A Year To Sign Robert Lewandowski As Bayern President Not Willing To Sell Their Striker.

 Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has warned clubs interested in Robert Lewandowski that the Bavarians are not willing to part ways with their striker until his current contract is over.

The Polish star, publicly confirmed the reports that explained he wants to leave the Allianz Arena this summer, despite just having one year left on his current deal with the German giants.

After scoring during Bayern Munich's 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg on the final day of the Bundesliga season, his league-leading 35th goal of the campaign, Lewandowski revealed that he might have already played his final game for the club, scoring 50 goals in 46 gsmes this season.

The 33-year-old arrived from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, but now wants to move on and try a new challenge elsewhere ahead of next season.

"It is very possible that this was my last game as a Bayern Munich player," Lewandowski said in a post match interview after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg.

"I can't be 100 percent sure, but it is possible that it was.

"We want to find the best solution for myself and for the club."

Bayern President Hainer further didn't hesitate to respond to Lewandowski's statement, confirming on Sunday that the player turned down the club's offer to renew his deal.

"Lewandowski has a contract until 2023 and he will play with us until then," Hainer told Sport 1.

"Bayern Munich directors Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic made him an offer to extend the contract. Apparently, it was not accepted.

"It's his right not to want to extend the contract."

Hainer, though, stressed that European powerhouses closely monitoring players of Lewandowski's level is nothing new, recalling when the Polish striker was linked with Real Madrid.

"We already had the case in 2019 when Robert flirted with Real Madrid," added the president.

"Bayern is familiar with this situation."

After Erling Haaland moved to join Man City, Lewandowski has emerged as Barcelona's primary target in their bid to strengthen their attack next season.

The Blaugrana have made contact with the player, with president Joan Laporta being involved in the negotiations.

In fact, Laporta has admitted that signing the Bayern striker is possible, and would try to avoid La Liga's Financial Fair Play (FFP) sanctions.

According to recent reports, Chelsea are also eyeing up Robert Lewandowski and could try to sign him if his Barcelona move collapses' 

Thomas Tuchel's personal interest could play a part in the Pole's decision.

Currently, Chelsea are sanctioned and unable to make transfers, but that's projected to end soon, with the Todd Boehly takeover into the final administrative details.

After that, they will begin planning their summer, as they are already behind most of Europe's big clubs who have started to make moves for new players.
